The Force was NOT with me…
Happy Star Wars Day! I know, how exciting!! Raise your hand if you went to see it already?? My hand is not raised š But no worries, Iāll go see it soon. In honor of the new Star Wars movie opening (and in lieu of a festive holiday cake that I could have brought to work today before our big Christmas break), I made this Star Wars Cake. This DARTH VADER cake, muahahaha. Well… it was supposed to be a MUAHAHAHA type of cake, you know, with chocolate oozing, and Darthās eyes a-glow, but instead it came out like this… yeah, I think itās safe to say that the Force was NOT with me on this cake lol.
My dad bought the Star Wars series when we were little and we all watched it together. I admit that when we opened it for Christmas, my sister and I were less than excited; he was though lol. So we grew up watching the series- ALL 6 of them. And of course, we grew up watching the Star Treks as well (we say weāre Trekkies more than anything, but more on that later š ) When this movie was announced, we were really excited! Now that weāre older it feels like itās part of our childhood- the music certainly brings up those old days.
I love making cakes but unfortunately have not had the time to do much lately. I found this star wars cake pan when I was a Michealās craft store and I instantly knew I wanted to make it! But as often it happens, the rush of crazy work days, holiday parties and festivities took over my weeks and I only got to make the cake once (as in I didnāt get to practice on it). I donāt like icing much, in fact making a marshmallow fondant has always been what I do for cakes, but this cake was going to require too much, so instead I opted for the quickest type of icing ever! All you have to do is buy a store bought can of icing, stick in the microwave for say 2 minutes, then pour it on to the cake! Convenient, yes. Messy, yes, Quick, yes. Best looking, ehh not always. Since the simple chocolate cake recipe I used was moist, the icing itself seeped right into the cake- giving Darth those weird spots on his face lol. Like I said, the Force was NOT with me on this cake!
Then with the icing so soft and the cake continually sucking in the icing, the piped icing did itās own thang. Lol. Darn you Vader! Why do you constantly have to rebel!?!? Well, good thing is that NO ONE at my office complained.
Maybe he even looks a little better with this mohawk??!
Hahaha, if anything he definitely looks better like this:
Merry Christmas and Happy Star Wars day! I hope the Force IS with you this season!
